Elevating Human Factors & Interface Design with

Sonification & Affective Computing

About Me

My name is Chihab Nadri, and I am a highly motivated and detail-oriented Ph.D. candidate in Human Factors of Systems & Product Design at Virginia Tech's Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. I have a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and am on track to complete my Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Myounghoon Jeon in July 2023.

My research interests lie in the intersection of human factors and systems engineering, with a focus on designing and evaluating technologies that improve safety, sustainability, and equity. Specifically, I have expertise in designing and evaluating in-vehicle auditory displays and have conducted expert interviews and qualitative evaluations of user interfaces to predict future automated vehicle trends. I am also interested in wearable technologies and machine learning and have extensive experience with sonification and auditory display design.

Looking ahead, my goal is to combine AI & Affect and create safe, trustworthy, and empathic interfaces and systems that improve the lives of people, leverage the incredible potential of AI, and are adapted for all users.
